Australian universities and colleges provide a wide range of scholarships to meritorious international students to help them fund their studies. Apart from this, many scholarships, grants and bursaries are also offered by the Australian government, public and private establishments. Before you apply to any of these scholarships, do check the eligibility and criteria, along with the closing date.

The primary criterion for most scholarships is a good academic score, however it also depends on factors such as your chosen destination, subject and level.

Some common scholarships programs available to international students in Australia include:

• Australia Awards: This includes scholarships coming from Department of Education and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT).
• Australia APEC Women in Research Fellowship: These fellowships were started with the aim to empower women and are open to high-achieving female researchers from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to pursue their research in Australian education and research institutions. 
• Australian Government Research and Training Program (RTP): This pool of funding is dedicated to support a student’s (local and international) Research Doctorate and Research Master’s degree.

Most scholarships to study in Australia cover tuition fees although some may also cover living or travelling expenses. Research programs at times offer up to 100% scholarship to students including tuition fee and living expenses.
