Trinity College

Australia
Overview

Overview

Founded in 1870, Trinity College was based on the English college model of Oxford and Cambridge. Trinity is a residential college of the University of Melbourne, with the affiliation beginning in 1876. Talented international students looking to study at the University of Melbourne can follow the academically excellent Trinity College Foundation Studies (TCFS) preparatory pathway. The University of Melbourne sees approximately 25 per cent of international undergraduate students coming from Trinity's foundation studies.

TCFS is the only foundation studies program that guarantees entry to undergraduate courses at the University of Melbourne, provided that students achieve the required scores. Taught by leading academics, the TCFS program is both rigorous and challenging. It has been designed in collaboration with the University of Melbourne, with supervision provided by the university's academic board.

Having educated students from over 60 different countries, Trinity is proud of its rich 140-year history. Located only one-and-a-half kilometres from the city centre, Trinity College is found on the quiet and tranquil campus of the University of Melbourne.

Trinity student awarded at the Australian national robotics competition

Rachel Ye, a Trinity College Foundation Studies student, was awarded the titles of robot skills champion as well as the tournament champion (VRC/VEXU) in the recent Australian national robotics competition. The wins have qualified her to participate in the 2019 Robotics World Championship in the USA.

Rachel was incredibly dedicated, spending at least 12 hours a day on robotics. Trinity College lent support in balancing her studies along with the robotics development and encouraging her participation in the national competition.

The design of the robot required them to be able to both carry balls and shoot them at different targets. ''[Robotics] is like taking care of a child and seeing it grow and improve, using both creative and logical means,'' says Rachel. ''When I built the robot, I started off with the base and then experimented with methods to shoot the balls, such as using a catapult and a puncher'', explained Rachel.

Currently ranked first in Australia, Rachel has competed successfully in several national level robotics contests and appreciates the freedom and support that Trinity College gives for her academics and robotics.

Melbourne Victoria 100 Royal Parade, Parkville
Opened in 1872, Trinity College was established as an affiliated residential college of the University of Melbourne as well as a place to prepare theological candidates for ordained ministry in the Anglican Church of Australia. Trinity College has significantly expanded since then and today consists of three divisions, the Pathways School, the Residential College and the Theological School.

The College has a diverse student body of more than 2,000 students from a wide range of socioeconomic, geographical and cultural backgrounds. This has created a vibrant and supportive learning community. Trinity College embraces reconciliation and is committed to giving Indigenous students access to tertiary study and supporting them academically, pastorally and culturally so as to build their chances of successfully completing a university degree.

Opportunities abound for all students to explore new interests and pursue their extra-curricular passions, be they musical, sporting, cultural, spiritual, entrepreneurial, or in the areas of leadership and social responsibility. The breadth and depth of these opportunities, supported by extensive student welfare and pastoral care structures, and the diversity of students' backgrounds, nurtures the development of well-rounded individuals, able and willing to lead and serve, locally, nationally or internationally.

Trinity College blends modern facilities with stunning heritage buildings. The main campus is located at Parkville, Melbourne. This is where all of residential students live, the majority of Foundation Studies classes are taught, and is the home of Theological School and Chapel.
