Teaching at Aberdeen is organised across 12 schools which encompass a broad range of disciplines. The University offers a flexible and individual approach to studies. It offers around 400 first degree programmes which the students can mix, match and switch subjects as they discover new interests and abilities on route to deciding the subject, or subjects, they finally graduate in. Undergraduate and postgraduate students benefit by being taught by academic staff that are active in research, many involved in international collaborations at the forefront of discovery in their respective discipline, focused on finding answers to the issues facing our society and economy today.

Teaching and research is primarily based at the university?s Old Aberdeen and Forester hill campuses. Arts, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences and the main University library are located in Old Aberdeen. The majority of Life Sciences and Medicine is based at Forester hill. The King's College campus in Old Aberdeen is the historic heart of the University. The Old Aberdeen campus is the historic heart of the University and combines immaculately preserved buildings with state-of-the-art facilities for learning, research and recreation.
