Selection criteria:
The Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement of students pursuing graduate studies in Alberta. It was established to incent the best and the brightest students, including international students, to study in Alberta. Students must be enrolled full-time in a course-based or thesis-based Doctoral/PhD degree program or a Master's degree program at Concordia University of Edmonton. To be eligible, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a Domestic Student (i.e. a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a protected person within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), or
- Be an International Student (i.e. a student who is not a Domestic Student who is authorized to study in Canada at the post-secondary institution under a study permit issue by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada), or
- Be an Indigenous Student (i.e. a Canadian citizen and has aboriginal ancestry and is Status Indian/First Nations, Non-Status Indian/First Nations, Metis, or Inuit.
- Be enrolled in a course-based or thesis-based Master's or Doctoral degree program.
- Be enrolled in at least 60% of a full course load. Students with a documented permanent disability may be eligible if they are enrolled in at least 40% of a full course load. Students who drop to part-time are not eligible to receive payment.
- Be living in Alberta while enrolled and taking classes at the institution.
- Demonstrate academic excellence on the most recent 9 credits of graduate studies coursework completed at Concordia University of Edmonton or elsewhere. Students must be in good standing as determined by Concordia (at an institution and/or program level). Only students admitted as regular graduate students will be considered.
Students must be nominated to the Scholarship and Awards Committee by their program and must consult with their Graduate Program Director for their internal deadline and procedures.
