The university offers single and double bachelor's degrees. When studying a single bachelor's degree, students can specialise in one or two majors within their chosen area of study, while still accessing flexible elective units to explore other interests. Depending on prior academic qualifications, other recognised prior learning or work experience, students may qualify for a one-year admission point into their chosen master's degree. International applicants applying to undergraduate programs at Macquarie need to have completed at least one of the following academic qualifications:
Applicants will usually need a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution considered equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree, which roughly amounts to Level 7 on the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Some courses also require applicants to have previous study or work experience in a related area, a higher-level qualification such as an Honours Bachelor (AQF Level 8), or a specific Weight Average Mark (WAM) requirement.
As part of the required English proficiency, most postgraduate courses require English competency equivalent to an overall IELTS Academic of 6.5.
Depending on applicants' prior qualifications, work experience, or other recognised prior learning, they may also be eligible for shorter admission points for master's courses. Ranging between 12-18 months, this enables students to fast-track their studies and save on time and money.
