Future students who wish to study at the University of Texas at Arlington must ensure they meet the university's current minimum admissions standards. UTA evaluates students for admission based on academic records. Students also have the option to submit SAT or ACT test scores for evaluation.
International first-year applicants educated outside the U.S. must submit official secondary school transcripts demonstrating completion of a secondary curriculum equivalent to U.S. high school graduation. Transcripts not in English must have official translations. UTA is test- optional, but submitting SAT or ACT scores can strengthen an application and help with scholarship consideration.
International transfer applicants must submit official college/university transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. Transcripts must show subjects completed and grades earned.

Students applying for postgraduate courses should understand that competition is high, and that selection will be dependent on the specific requirements for their chosen program of study being met. Estimated annual living expenses are approximately USD 17,995, covering housing, meals, transportation, and personal expenses. Tuition for international undergraduate students is USD 26,838 per year, while international graduate tuition is USD 25,714 per year - making UTA an affordable option among leading U.S. public research universities.
UTA is deeply committed to helping students manage the cost of their education. Each year, the university awards over USD 40 million in scholarships, with the scholarships office offering a wide range of merit-based awards for undergraduate students, including first-year and transfer applicants.
These scholarships are awarded based purely on academic achievement and are available beginning in the Fall semester, with applications submitted through the UTA website. And consideration is automatic when students' admission applications are submitted before the scholarship deadline.
Graduate students also have access to funding opportunities. Most graduate funding is awarded directly through academic departments and may include assistantships, fellowships, or limited scholarships. For students pursuing advanced research, UTA offers fully funded doctoral programs, covering tuition and providing financial support to help students focus on their studies and research.
In addition, international students who receive a competitive merit-based scholarship may qualify to pay in-state tuition rates, even if they are non-residents of Texas or non-U.S. citizens, significantly reducing overall costs.
