Bachelor of Arts in Art and Art History - Art History in Critical Curatorial Studies

Foreign languages are recommended for students planning to major in Art History, especially if they plan to enter graduate programs in the discipline. Students are advised not to limit their junior and senior year classes to courses focused only on the history of a single region. Students must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in order to pursue independent study in Art History. Students are encouraged to undertake an Honors Thesis in Art History. Those interested in Honors must submit by the end of their junior year a thesis proposal and bibliography in some specific area of art historical literature, prepared in consultation with their advisor. Art History, Critical Curatorial Studies, and Built Environment Studies requirements are designed to offer students program experiences that provide breadth, variety and a balance between lecture courses and seminars.

Secondary School Report Form including official records of your courses and grades from all secondary schools and universities you have attended. Please note that in order to have complete secondary school records, we need to have records from your ninth grade year (last year of middle or junior high school) as well as your complete senior high school records. These records must be sent directly to us from your school. Certified non-English transcripts or grade reports should be accompanied by official (literal, not interpretive) translations. Generally, William & Mary is looking for a minimum score of 100 on the TOEFL exam which can come from a single test date or from ETS' My Best score calculation. On the IELTS Academic Test, we are looking for an overall band score of 7 or above.
