Applicants are expected to meet one of the following academic requirements: for A Levels, a typical offer of AAB including two subjects from Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, or Statistics, with at least one being Chemistry or Biology/Human Biology; for the International Baccalaureate (IB), 6,6,5 including two subjects from Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, or Statistics, with at least one being Chemistry or Biology/Human Biology; and for BTEC qualifications, the Extended Diploma, Diploma, and Extended Certificate are accepted, but subjects are considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must take three A Levels, and General Studies, Critical Thinking, Citizenship Studies, Applied Science, Communication and Culture, Critical Studies, Global Perspectives, Science in Society, and World Development are not accepted. Those who take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and meet the standard offer criteria will receive the typical offer plus an alternative offer one grade lower with a grade A in the EPQ. Deferred entry is generally allowed, and applicants are advised to inform the School or central Admissions if they wish to defer; the university maintains a neutral stance regarding gap years.
