Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management

The Ph.D. in Technology Management (TM) is designed to meet growing industry and academic needs by offering a quality doctoral program to both part-time and full-time students in two inter-related areas:

New technology venture creation (e.g. entrepreneurship and corporate venturing), and
Select current and emerging technologies (technology concentrations).
The program will encompass an integrated multi-disciplinary technology and management approach. The PhD-TM program is specifically designed to develop interdisciplinary skills and competencies in research and management of technology-dependent enterprises, technology-based entrepreneurship and new product, service and venture creation.

While the PhD-TM is housed in the Department of Technology Management, the Ph.D. degree facilitates and encourages interdisciplinary studies across the School of Engineering and other schools and utilizes their complementary research facilities, faculty and lab resources.

Student must have: Master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in business or management, engineering, computer science or information technology, from an accredited university or recognized international institution; Recommended cumulative undergraduate and graduate GPA of 3.5 or higher; Minimum of three years of industry experience.

Those whose native language is not English are also required to show English language proficiency. You can demonstrate proof of English Language competency by meeting any one of the criteria listed below: A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT), or 80 (IBT) for graduates (postgraduates); A minimum IELTS (Cambridge Testing) Band score of 6.5 for graduates (post-graduates); An official letter certifying completion of ELS (English Language Service) through level 112; An official letter certifying completion of CSE (The Center for English Studies) through level 7.5; A Michigan English Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 77 or above for graduates; A Prueba de Aptitud Academica (PAA) English achievement score of 500 or above; Minimum PTE Academic score of 53 for graduates (postgraduates).
