Doctor of Philosophy in Law

The aim of the doctoral program is to develop autonomous academics and lawyers who are highly qualified to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their particular discipline through theoretical, practical and empirical research in various fields of law. The program focuses on the development and mastery of a research approach, of social and critical legal reasoning for the purpose of making original contributions in the field of law.The doctoral program comprises the following elements: a legal research methodology and theory course, an elective course, a comprehensive examination, a thesis proposal examination, the writing of a thesis and its defence before an examining board.
