BA (Hons) Art History

Art has the power to challenge society today. This course is for you if you’re curious to explore the cultural, political, social and economic significance of art.Just outside Brighton and close to London, the University is brilliantly located for the arts. Our facilities include The Keep and the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts. You’ll also benefit from our connections with a wide range of museums, galleries and collections. Our research informs exhibitions at museums and galleries such as Tate, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Science Museum.At Sussex, we ensure that you experience art in person through day-long field trips every year, and the opportunity to do week-long study trips abroad in your second year. We also provide opportunities to collaborate with nearby arts venues and schools.During your degree, you can choose to:discover art’s relationship with feminism, queer studies, empire and postcolonialism, criticism and the media
join the Art Society to share your interest in art, collaborate and get inspiration
apply to do a summer research project with a member of faculty as a Junior Research Associate.
