Wrexham University, located in North Wales, has a proud legacy of over 135 years in delivering education that combines tradition with innovation. Established originally as the Wrexham School of Science and Art in 1887, the university has evolved through the decades - growing from a technical institute to one of the UKs most dynamic modern civic universities.

Rooted in its Welsh heritage, Wrexham University has continually adapted to the changing educational landscape. It became the North East Wales Institute (NEWI) in the 1970s and earned university status in 2008 under the name Glyndŵr University, honoring the spirit of Owain Glyndŵr - a bold and visionary Welsh leader. In 2023, the institution rebranded to Wrexham University to reflect both its deep connection to place and its growing global ambition.

Today, Wrexham University is known for its forward-thinking approach, regional and global engagement, and commitment to excellence, inclusion, collaboration, transformation, and sustainability. Wrexham University is home to three distinctive campuses:
Wrexham Campus: The university’s main and historic site, combining legacy and modern learning.
Northop Campus: A rural setting focused on animal sciences and human-animal interaction.
