Victoria University of Wellington is one of the country’s oldest institutions and is situated in New Zealand’s capital, with three campuses in the city. It is often recognised for its academic excellence, including being ranked among the top two percent of the world's universities in the 2019 QS World University Rankings. The university is placed in the top one percent of universities globally for 19 of its subjects including communication and media studies, psychology, religious studies, geography, law, library and information management, linguistics, performing arts, development studies, and politics and international studies.
A careers and employment team are on hand to help students make the most of their studies and work towards achieving their career goals and ambitions. As well as chatting on a one-to-one basis with a careers consultant, students can drop by to get advice on their CV, as well as attending workshops and logging in to the online Careers Hub to manage their progress.
Victoria University of Wellington students have the opportunity to study abroad in another country as part of their degree. There are currently 140 exchange partner universities in 30 countries to choose from, including in Canada, Mexico, Denmark, and Singapore.
Students are supported throughout their time studying by a variety of services, which focus on things such as additional study help, support for disabled students, a dedicated service for international students, confidential counselling and advice on health and wellbeing.
In their spare time, students have the chance to get involved in one of the many clubs and societies run across the institution, which range from special-interest groups to sports teams. These provide a great opportunity to meet new people and settle into new surroundings. There are also volunteering opportunities and the chance for students to start their own society and demonstrate leadership skills.
