Course Selection and Application

If you’re keen to study in Australia, we’re keen to help

With so many schools and universities to choose from, deciding where and what to study and finding out how to apply for the best chance of acceptance can be challenging. You can do it yourself but there is a possibility you may miss something by not speaking with the experts first.

A history that speaks for itself

Since 1969, IDP has helped people like you get into Australian schools and universities.  In fact, we’ve done it successfully more than 400,000 times.

It’s fast and free

IDP won’t charge you a cent for exploring your study options and making applications. Your course fees are the same as if you would have applied directly with the school or university, and sometimes you’ll even be able to access an application fee waiver, special scholarships and bursaries by applying with IDP, meaning your total cost can be even less than dealing directly with the study provider.

If you’re in a hurry, or just super enthusiastic, it makes sense to apply with IDP. Applications made with IDP usually make their way through faster than if you apply yourself. IDP’s relationship with schools and colleges around Australia, and our counsellor’s dedication to you, means our applications are processed quickly.

Relatable and approachable

IDP’s experienced counsellors understand your study and migration goals. In fact, many of our counsellors have themselves been international students, so they really can relate to you.

Speak your preferred language

Our team is as diverse as our customers, so if you prefer to speak your first language when you visit us, we probably have someone on the team who can do that with you.

What should you expect?

When you first meet with us, your counsellor will talk with you about:

  • your education and experience, interests, timeline, budget and career or migration goals
  • courses that match your needs
  • the application process
  • your visa and its match for your intentions
  • upcoming information events that might be of interest to you.

Submitting your study applications

Your IDP counsellor will submit your applications on your behalf. We will supply the institution course application documents and institution program guides; compile your applications and certify supporting documents.

We will then take care of sending your application to your university or institution of choice.

You may be invited to meet education institution representatives who will assess your application and determine your eligibility for the course. You may also have the opportunity to discuss course structures and graduate outcomes in our education seminars.

Response from the study provider

You will receive a response from the school or university within 2-6 weeks of your application being submitted. When you’re offered a place in a course, you will receive an offer letter. In some cases, a representative of the school or university can assess your eligibility for the course and print an offer letter during your interview at our office or at one of IDP’s many international student events throughout the year.

Acceptance and payment

If there are no conditions on your offer letter, you may accept the offer immediately. Examples of conditions that could be specified include supplying a new IELTS test result, supplying an academic transcript of recently completed study, or supplying certified documents.

Offers can be accepted at an IDP office, with a deposit being paid directly to the school or university that has made the offer. Your counsellor will guide you through this process to help make it easy.
