Everthought College of Construction (ECOC) is a specialist training college in Australia. Since 2007, it has produced highly skilled tradespeople, through teaching vocational courses in:

  • Building and construction (management)
  • Building and construction (building)
  • Carpentry
  • Wall and floor tiling
  • Brick and block laying

Students can work towards diploma and certificate qualifications, and develop the skills needed for a rewarding and high-paying career in industry. ECOC has a net promoter score of 61.7.

Courses are taught by industry-leading trainers and supported by modern, purpose-built facilities and technologies. Many courses include practical learning on the job. There are numerous intake dates over the year, and flexible learning options available.

With more than 6,500 domestic and international graduates, ECOC offers a unique and specialised education suitable for international students. Qualifications are globally recognised and sought after by employers. The location also provides an unforgettable student experience.

The college is made up of two branches, one in Brisbane, Queensland, and the other in Perth, Western Australia. Both allow students to experience authentic Australian life, where they can enjoy natural landscapes, including some of the world's best beaches. The country's metropolitan cities are safe and packed with entertainment.

Community is at the core of student success, social events are held regularly, such as cultural celebrations, world food days and campus BBQs. There are lots of support services to help students academically and non-academically. This includes study skills programmes, disabled student support, counselling, financial support, health and safety and out-of-hours emergency response. There are even scholarships available which international students are eligible for.

Everthought College of Construction has now been updated to an Assessment Level 2 provider to aid with student visa file credibility.

This includes quarterly or monthly payment plans and much more. As a result, students can manage their student costs around their other obligations and focus on achieving their potential.

Options for Future Visas

All of the college's trades courses are in Medium to Long term list that enables its students to apply for multiple visas for longer term staying options in Australia, especially Western Australia for having the additional benefits of regional status and having the college's trades occupations in the State List.

Teaching quality

Teaching quality

Everthought College of Construction has been delivering courses and qualifications for more than 10 years and over 6,500 individuals have graduated from the college. Instruction at the specialist training college is centred around student success.

Teachers are highly experienced in their trades, and work to keep their knowledge and skills up to date. Courses bring together the latest technologies and industry-leading craftsmanship. Learning occurs within environments that emulate real-life situations, so students gain the practical experience needed for the next steps of their careers.

Students regularly give the college excellent feedback, resulting in it receiving a net promoter score (NPS) of 61.7. This is above Harvard Business School's score.

There are four trade course intakes and up to eight construction supervision and management course intakes each year. This means different courses are beginning every six weeks. Timetables are flexible with one week on/one week off structures in Perth and two days a week in Brisbane, so students can apply their learned skills in the workplace every other week.

Department structure

Department structure

There are four key courses international students can pursue:

Diploma of Building and Construction (Management)

This course helps students develop the skills and professional practice suited for the building and construction industry. Content includes core competencies covering typical skills for managerial roles like site supervision, construction management, project management, project scheduler, project planner and more within the construction industry.

Diploma of Building and Construction (Building)

This qualification is designed to meet the requirements for obtaining a Builder's Licence in Australia, alongside other state requirements and work experience. This course is designed to teach students the ins and outs of construction management and how to execute construction plans.

Certificate IV in Building and Construction

The Certificate IV in Building and Construction is the option for students willing to work in supervisory and technical specialist positions in civil construction. This qualification reflects the role of individuals responsible for quality and quantity of their own work, as well as for the output of others.

Certificate III in Carpentry

Students gain knowledge and experience while developing the skills needed to work as construction carpenters within building sites. Mainly focused on the residential sector, the course covers areas such as measurements and calculations, using power tools and equipment, interpreting plans and installing flooring.

Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling

Part of the Construction, Plumbing and Services Integrated Framework Training Package, this certificate course is designed for those in the wall and floor tiling trade.

Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying

Students gain the necessary skills for working on a building site as bricklayers and blocklayers. They discover the best ways for laying and bonding bricks and how to construct decorative walls, arches, panels and columns for commercial, domestic or public structures.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

To be admitted onto a certificate or diploma course at Everthought College of Construction, students must be proficient in the English language. This is because courses are taught in English.

Non-native English speakers can prove their proficiency through an English language test score. Commonly accepted tests and typical minimum scores for entry are:

  • IELTS – 5.5, with no section lower than 5
  • TOEFL IBT – 46
  • PTE – 42
  • CAE – 47

Or an equivalent from an accepted English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) college.

How to enrol

Students can directly enrol with the college by downloading, completing and sending the following forms to the college:

  • ECOC Application Form
  • Genuine Temporary Entrant Form

International students can also find guidance through an approved student migration agent who can help them enrol at the college.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

ECOC has a flexible payment plan in place to suit students' different financial circumstances. There are the options to pay monthly, by term or upfront. Paying upfront allows for a discount on the total cost of course fees.

The college provides scholarships for international students. This is to help them receive the quality training necessary for meeting their career goals. The college has two scholarships in place for each trade course, with eight scholarships available overall. Up to AUD 2,895 is available, depending on the course and campus location.

The Women in Trade Scholarship at Everthought gives Female student applicants a 20 percent discount on full course fees and has been successfully running for over a year. This initiative is to encourage the college's female applicants to gain construction trade qualifications.

To apply for a scholarship, students can download, complete and submit the ECOC Scholarship Application Form with the necessary supporting documents and completed Student Declaration. Students are encouraged to check eligibility requirements before applying.

Facilities

Facilities

ECOC's two campuses are well equipped with facilities and tools that support students with their learning. This includes training workshops, training classrooms, computer labs, industry equipment, resources and recreational spaces. Both locations host social events such as BBQs and cultural celebrations and have a coffee van visit every week.

Brisbane campus

This campus is located in Salisbury, south of Brisbane CBD. It's near to a university so there are affordable accommodation options and public transport systems close by. The campus is home to a large training facility, eLearning facilities and a student lounge.

Perth campus

The Cannington location is 15 minutes from the CBD and close to public transport. There are modern training facilities for specialised learning, a 4,000 sqm eLearning facility with workshops, classrooms and offices, and a student lounge.
