Sydney Law School

Regarded among the world's top 20 law schools for teaching and research in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the school has internationally recognised legal educators as well as highly respected professional practitioners.

If English is not a student's first language, they will need to offer proof of their proficiency in the language before they can commence their studies at the university.

Students can do this by offering the university proof to indicate that they have completed particular secondary or tertiary qualifications. Students can prove their proficiency by sitting for English language skills tests, or by completing suitable English language courses at the University of Sydney's Centre for English Teaching (CET).

Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

The Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship (SIUAES) targets the best and the brightest from around the globe by offering a 100 percent scholarship for undergraduate students studying a 3- or 4-year single degree. It is highly competitive and is based on academic merit, scholarship application and focussed on diversity of area of study and diversity of background.

Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarship

The Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarship (VCIS) offers up to AUD 60,000 and is granted to exceptional students from across the world, based on their academic merit.

Postgraduate Research Training Program Scholarship

The Research Training Program International Scholarship funded by the Australian Government, covers relocation costs, tuition fees, a living allowance, as well as overseas student health cover, to international postgraduate research students who are high achievers.

The University of Sydney's research facilities offer international students the opportunity to use high-end research infrastructure, as well as a number of related services to help researchers with specialist applications. University residences

The University of Sydney manages three main residences on its Darlington/Camperdown Campus: Abercrombie Student Accommodation, Queen Mary Building and the Regiment. In total, they offer rooms for about 1,600 students.

These residences offer modern single-study rooms along with large common living, study and learning spaces, as well as a host of student-led arts, sporting, cultural, academic, social and leadership programmes.

The University of Sydney's employability program for overseas students was acknowledged in the Australian Financial Review Higher Education Awards.

The Job Smart program was awarded the top spot in the employability category at the awards ceremony. The initiative had topped the same category back in 2019.

The program is developed and delivered by the university's Business School and helps enhance employment prospects for international students through industry connections, practical experiences and volunteering opportunities.
