Contra Costa College
Contra Costa College (CCC) is the oldest and most diverse of the three colleges in the Contra Costa Community College District. A proud Hispanic Serving Institution, serving predominantly Latinx, African American and Asian students, CCC is situated in a socioeconomically diverse, resilient and culturally vibrant community. Since opening in 1949, CCC has provided exemplary educational services as the only institution of higher education in the West County area. It serves over 7,000 students each year, with superior faculty and staff dedicated to creating a premier learning environment. Both CCC and the District take great pride in their effective participatory governance structures and processes.
Contra Costa College offers various educational programs to meet the needs of a socially, economically, and ethnically diverse service area. CCC is a fully accredited junior college that offers 120 different degree and certificate programs, as well as transfer pathways to four-year universities. These programs are offered on the main campus in San Pablo and various other sites throughout the service area. Courses are also offered online. Many courses are term-length, but it also offers short-term courses in six and eight week options. Courses are offered during the day, in the evening, and on weekends.
One of the fastest growing curricula is that of “green energy” programs. The Career Education (CE) experience at CCC is notable for the Electric/Hybrid Automotive Technology Program and offers the only Hybrid Technician Certification in the Bay Area.
With more than 25 student clubs, a robust roster of campus-wide events, and championship-winning athletic teams, students will find plenty of ways to connect with new people and experience the Comet spirit. The recently transformed campus has several ‘linger and learn’ spaces. From student lounge to the library or STEM center, one can find several comfortable places to study on their own or meet up with classmates, get help with their coursework, or grab a meal.
The college is located on 83 acres of a beautiful, naturally landscaped site accentuated by Wildcat Creek running through the rolling hills of San Pablo and Richmond. The three-level General Education Building houses modern classrooms, including a 201-seat lecture hall, and faculty offices. Fireside Hall is an open format meeting center offering flexible space for community events and campus gatherings.
