About Lakeland College
Lakeland?s comfortable setting allows students to focus on learning. The award-winning programs are designed to for an easy transition into the work force and/or further study here or somewhere else. The college offers numerous programs in various subjects like agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, business, trades technology etc. It has been ranked among Canada's top 50 research colleges and its facilities range through crop plots to a renewable energy centre.
The college also offers a variety of sports activities to its students that include basketball, cross country running, curling, futsal, rodeo, rowing, soccer and volleyball. There are several clubs at the college for students such as Christian Fellowship, Climbing, Environment, Intercollegiate Judging, Outdoor Recreation, Ranch Horse and Canine Clubs.
Lakeland began as the Vermilion School of Agriculture (now Vermilion Campus) and it still has countryside feel: green lawns, mature trees, and as much sky as you want. A lot of the learning at Vermilion takes place outdoors on the college farm, the Emergency Training Centre's training grounds, or the environmental science programs field labs. It's the more rural of our two campuses offering a true small-town college experience. Opened in 1990, Lloydminster campus has a modern, urban sensibility. But everything's housed under one roof, creating a distinct sense of community togetherness. More than 500 students in seven disciplines are at the Lloydminster campus.
