LLU is a Seventh-day Adventist university, offering a unique learning environment through the integration of health, science and faith.
In 1905, a vision of health and hope brought our campus to life in Southern California. As the campus grew into a force for healthcare and education, the city of Loma Linda grew around it.
More than 100 years later, Loma Linda University is part of a world-class academic medical center. Our pioneering efforts in health and wholeness have touched lives worldwide and positioned us as a leader in health science research. Every day, we work in service to our communities and underserved populations everywhere.
While a lot has changed since our humble beginnings, our commitment to our values and beliefs remains constant. Today, tomorrow and always, we commit ourselves to our singular mission: to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
Loma Linda University is committed to whole person student development. The cocurricular aspects of student life on campus are planned to assist students in achieving a healthy balance in every dimension of their lives.
The University recognizes and encourages the need for students to participate in social activities in order to contribute to the development of the whole person. Student activities at LLU are largely the result of collaborative endeavors between University schools, programs, and departments; and between student leaders and their organizations. Events and activities include snow skiing, trips to national parks, retreats, sporting events and tournaments, community service activities, Lunch on the Lawn, the annual Welcome Back Bash, the University Christmas party, and many other kinds of programs and events. Loma Linda University students and dependents typically receive substantial discounts for most events.
Life outside the classroom and laboratories is an important part of education. Student clubs and organizations provide the opportunity to develop and refine a wide range of professional leadership and fellowship skills.
