Monash University English Language Centre (MUELC), delivered through Monash College, specializes in providing English language education to international students preparing for further study at Monash College and Monash University. Its English programs are designed to develop students’ academic and English language skills, including reading, writing, listening and speaking, while familiarizing them with the Australian and Monash teaching environment.
The center offers Monash English, a pathway program of 10 to 40 weeks, with entry based on students’ existing English proficiency and the requirements of their intended destination course. Successful completion can satisfy English language requirements for selected Monash University and Monash College programs without the need to sit an IELTS test. The program is delivered at the Docklands campus in Melbourne, with 20 hours of classroom instruction and 15 hours of independent study per week.
MUELC also provides academic and language development workshops, individual learning plans, peer mentoring and learning-adviser support. Classes are limited to 18 students, enabling students to receive individualized feedback and support throughout their studies.
