The university has 21 academic schools and departments, offering a wide variety of degree courses. There are also a number of English language preparation programmes and many support services in place so that all students succeed academically and personally.
Located among 135 acres of parkland, Royal Holloway is steeped in history. It was founded as the UK's first women's college in 1849 by two social reformers who believed that education should benefit as many people as possible. It was opened as a university by Queen Victoria in 1886.
Based in Egham, Surrey, the campus is home to impressive architecture – most significantly the famous Founder's Building. Royal Holloway is just 19 miles from central London, and seven miles from Heathrow Airport. There is also a base in Bloomsbury, central London.
