St Lawrence College

St. Lawrence College (SLC) offers more than 55 study programs covering a range of subject areas at apprenticeship, certificate, diploma and degree level. Full-time, part-time, and fast-track delivery options are available.

SLC is located in the province of Ontario, Canada. It has three campuses across the region which include Kingston, Brockville and Cornwall. These campuses together form a warm and welcoming academic community, which is located within the Thousand Islands area along the St. Lawrence River.

All campuses are located just a short journey from major Canadian cities including Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa – and are the perfect place for students to explore the communities and cultures of Canada and the province of Ontario.

The college is accredited to offer several courses at bachelor degree level including:

• Bachelor of Commerce – Social Innovation: a distinctive and practical degree designed to equip students with the tools to address complex societal, professional, and environmental challenges. With an emphasis on sustainability, resilience, design and systems thinking, this three-year degree combines modern business strategies with a creative and socially responsive approach to problem-solving.
• Bachelor of Science – Nursing (Honours): a four-year degree that trains students to the level of registered nurse in Canada. This program features clinical placements from the first semester, and has a strong track record of high graduate employment.
• Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology: a four-year degree that provides a comprehensive insight into the field of behavioural psychology. It features over 1,100 hours of supervised community placements.

The college consistently performs well in the quality of services delivered and student and graduate satisfaction. In its 2022-2023 key performance indicators (KPIs), it was shown that 88.9 per cent of graduate employers were satisfied with the educational preparation and skills of SLC graduates.

Academic departments

St. Lawrence College is a well-respected and international institution that hosts more than 12,000 students each year, including full-time and part-time students and apprentices. The college delivers more than 55 academic programs, including certificates, diplomas, and degrees.

English as a second language

The college also has an agreement with Queens University in Kingston, to offer English as a Second Language courses. Learners are able to study on the Queen's campus while enrolled as a full-time SLC student with a conditional offer to an academic program.

This allows students to learn in person in Kingston, as they adjust to a new city and gain an immersive English Language experience in Canada.

Academic

Students must meet the academic requirements and prerequisites for their chosen study program. International equivalents to the detailed Canadian prerequisites are accepted.

English language

St. Lawrence College is committed to welcoming a diverse range of students from around the world and supports this through an excellent array of English language programs alongside its regular academic offerings.

Courses at the college are delivered in English. In order to attain entry, applicants must therefore have a specific level of understanding in English that allows them to understand the college's instructors and be able to understand the technical language used during the classes of their chosen subject area.

The proficiency requirements for applicants may vary according to the program selected, and the level at which it is being studied. In most cases the English language requirement is as follows:

• Certificate, diploma and advanced diploma programs: IELTS (Academic) overall score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5
• Fast-track, graduate certificate and degree programs: IELTS (Academic) overall score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0

Other equivalent qualifications are also accepted. There are a number of certification bodies from which the college accepts test results. Results should be from within the last two years.

For students with insufficient competency for their chosen academic course, the college offers a variety of specialist English language and preparatory courses.

Learning facilities

At all campuses, students benefit from modern, inspiring learning spaces, including cutting-edge classrooms, high-tech labs, a range of study spaces and state-of-the-art equipment and learning resources to augment the study experience. The library houses an extensive array of books and study materials.

Residences

At St. Lawrence College, it is important that all students coming to study from overseas are able to feel comfortable, safe and happy in their new homes. As a result of this, the college has worked to develop an impressive range of accommodation options to ensure that students are able to find a location and lifestyle that suits them.

Students living in residence will be able to enjoy the convenience of living on campus and being in the centre of a thriving social environment. It is an immersive way to start a higher education journey overseas, and is perfect for those who appreciate a short journey to class and being close to all the facilities and services that campus has to offer.

Every residence option across the three campuses offers fully furnished suites that provide single or double occupancy. There are also common areas for socialising and studying across all residences, alongside easy access to laundry services, computer labs, catering and dining, and library services.

Due to the generous donations of a wide alumni network and partners of the college, St. Lawrence College is proud to offer international students access to scholarships and bursaries to assist them in paying for college and maximising their experience there.

Academic Merit-Based Scholarships

Students are advised to check the full list of scholarships and financial aid options on the university website. For international students, the academic merit-based scholarship is typically awarded as follows:

• 80%+ grade: CAD 4,000 scholarship
• 70–79% grade: CAD 2,000 scholarship
• 60–69% grade: CAD 500 scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference given to applicants who submit their applications earliest, provided they meet all eligibility requirements.

New programs

In September 2026, SLC will be offering two new study programs, both open to international students.

• Bachelor of Commerce – Social Innovation: This three-year bachelor's degree creatively equips students with the commercial skills social responsibility to make a different in today's modern and transforming world of business. It features over 300 hours of experiential learning, ensuring graduates have the skills, experience and connections needed to kickstart a career in the field.
• Electrical techniques program: This one-year program has been specifically developed for students who are hoping to work in the electrical industry and students obtain a basic knowledge of electrical functions. Graduates may opt to continue their training with an employer or via an electrician apprenticeship at SLC.

Campus developments

St. Lawrence College campuses have undergone extensive renovations in recent years, with state-of-the-art classrooms and labs, modern individual and group study spaces, and upgraded facilities for students, including cafeterias, fitness facilities, and more.
