The University of Huddersfield is an award-winning, modern public university, with a long history of education. It offers a comprehensive mix of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses and is located on a site that has been home to academic institutions since the 19^th century.

International undergraduate students can receive a non-repayable scholarship grant of up to GBP 12,000 (GBP 4,000 for every year) of their course, based on academic achievements. GBP 4,000 is awarded for an achievement of AAB at A-level (or equivalent), and up to GBP 2,000 is awarded annually for meeting standard entry requirements. For most courses, students are considered automatically for these financial awards upon enrolment.

International postgraduate students can also receive a non-repayable scholarship grant of up to GBP 4,000 if they have the equivalent of a first-class degree (Hons) or GBP 2,000 for meeting standard entry requirements.

Huddersfield offers low cost of living, including being a top 10 UK location for affordable student rent (Student Crowd 2026). Average rent cost in Huddersfield is GBP 125 per week, compared to the UK average of GBP 203 per week, and the central London average of GBP 399 per week.

The campus has recently had financial investments of over GBP 198 million to build a range of new world-class facilities and buildings.

The latest development is The National Health Innovation Campus, which will be comprised of seven new buildings. The first two buildings, Daphne Steel and Emily Siddon, feature state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for the university's midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, operating department practice, paramedic science, physiotherapy, podiatry and speech and language therapy courses.

The University of Huddersfield prioritises campus safety, implementing numerous measures and policies to ensure a secure environment for all students and staff where they can work and study in confidence. There are plenty of resources dedicated to supporting this including a campus security team, who operate out of the security hub, which is open and staffed 24 hours a day, all year round, and an on-campus safer student officer.

This team offers various services, such as campus patrols, CCTV monitoring, building access control, handling lost property, and ensuring personal safety. Students feeling unsafe can seek advice at the security hub, which may include arranging a taxi for them.

Additionally, the security hub provides online safety information and manages the university ID card system, including the replacement of lost or stolen cards to maintain campus security.

The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) shows that the University of Huddersfield's teaching staff are the best qualified in England across a range of measures. The university is ranked the number 1 mainstream university in the UK for the proportion of teaching staff with higher degrees and teaching qualifications - and top ten in England for staff holding doctorates.
