Overview

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is renowned for its excellence in teaching, and boasts the title of University of the Year 2017. It was also named Modern University of the Year in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.

Employment prospects are high, with 96% of students going on to find employment within the first six months of graduating. Careers help is at hand too, with everything from placement opportunities to CV writing workshops organised by the Employability Team.

Since 2003, NTU has invested over £420 million across its campuses to ensure that students benefit from the best quality learning environment. Historic buildings have been renovated and new ones built, while leisure facilities include a live music venue, a 30ft climbing wall, and gyms.

NTU has an impressive research reputation after receiving the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Tertiary Education. The University is proud of its international community of over 3,500 international students, and many students study at its partner institutions all around the world. The University is focussed on connecting globally and wants to create even more international opportunities for its students.

The University has been awarded ‘Gold’ in the Teaching Excellence Framework, and the National Student Satisfaction Survey found that 89% of its students are highly satisfied with their experience.

NTU has an award-winning Students' Union (SU) spread out across the three main campuses. The SU has over 150 clubs and societies for students to take part in, ranging from creative writing to archery. There are also a variety of volunteering opportunities on offer as well as club nights, weekend trips and pop-up shops taking place throughout the year.

Nottingham itself has everything a university city requires – an award-winning nightlife, culture and sports - and what's more, it's extremely budget-friendly.

What’s new

Nottingham Trent University named University of the Year

Nottingham Trent University has been named the University of the Year at the 2017 Times Higher Education Awards.

Judges praised the University for "combining bold ambition with the hard work required to turn vision into reality", and highlighted Nottingham Trent's impressive record on outreach and its use of learning analytics to improve retention.

This comes just two months after Nottingham Trent celebrated being named the Times and Sunday Times Modern University of the Year 2018, acknowledging success in both the National Students’ Survey and recent league tables.

Professor Edward Peck, Vice-Chancellor of Nottingham Trent, said: “This has been a phenomenal year in terms of recognition for the exceptional work of staff and students at our university.”

Nottingham Business School

The school is EQUIS and AACSB accredited, one of only 1% of business schools worldwide to have both.

Nottingham Law School

This is one of the largest university law schools in the UK with a reputation for innovation and delivering the highest standards of legal training and education.

School of Art & Design

Art and Design teaching has been taking place at this school since 1843, making NTU one of the UK's most well-established, renowned and creative universities.

School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment

The school is a centre of expertise for aspiring and professional designers, property and construction experts, architects and civil engineers.

School of Arts and Humanities

The school offers a far-reaching set of subjects that engage with cultures, societies, history, language, literature and communications. This includes the Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism featuring a newsroom, TV and radio studios and production facilities.

School of Science and Technology

The school's multi-disciplinary approach enables the students to study traditional scientific disciplines alongside emerging modern fields. It is home to some of the best laboratory facilities in the UK.

School of Social Sciences

The school is an internationally recognised centre for the study of engaged social science, offering a wide range of courses which address the key social issues of today.

School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences

Leading the way in modern environmental sciences, the school tackles global issues of sustainability, climate change and conservation. Courses are based at the Brackenhurst Campus, a stunning rural campus around 14 miles from the centre of Nottingham.

Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies

Confetti is a renowned creative industry centre, teaching animation, games, graphic design, film, TV, live events, music and visual effects.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Entry requirements are different for each course. Students must check the NTU website for the entry requirements for their interested courses. Also, take a look at the equivalent qualifications for each country.

English Language Requirements

Most courses require IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

NTU offers pre-sessional English courses for students who need to improve their English language skills. These are a great way for students to get to know the University and prepare for their studies while bringing their language skills up to the required level.

There is also English language support available during studies to help students improve their language skills.

Scholarships & funding

The University offers a range of scholarships for international students. All scholarships are competitive and awards are based on academic merit. These have several application deadlines throughout the year.

International Masters Scholarships

Up to half-fee scholarships are available in all schools. These scholarships are very competitive and awarded to students who demonstrate academic success and commitment to their studies.

International Undergraduate Scholarships

These scholarships are worth £2,000 per year for up to three years.

Libraries

Libraries on each campus provide access to thousands of books, journals and online resources. They are a great place to study with spaces for individual and group work.
