Eligibility criteria

Master’s courses in Canada are usually designed for one to two years as a full-time study program. While the eligibility criteria for every institution varies with stream and other specifications, the most common requirements include: 

  • Minimum 16 years of educational experience with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in bachelor’s

  • If you have three years of bachelor’s degree, then a two-year master’s degree is necessary. Although, few institutions also accept three-year bachelor’s degree with 15 years of educational experience.

  • Results of English-language proficiency tests such as IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.5.

  • Few institutions might ask you to submit your GRE scores with a minimum score of 260*
    *This requirement is usually stated for engineering and science-based programs 

  • For Master’s in management areas like MBA, Finance and Accounting, many Canadian business schools require you to take the GMAT exam with a minimum score of 650

Cost of studying Master’s in Canada

Canada is quite affordable for international students compared to other English-speaking countries with most of its Master’s program ranging between CAD 17,000 to CAD 30,000. Where arts and humanities-based courses might be on the lower end of this scale, popular courses like Dentistry, Architecture and Business might rank on the higher side.
