Overview

Mount Royal University (MRU) students develop new skills, build networks and discover the world through arts, sciences, health, business and communication studies. Based in Calgary, Alberta, the university offers many opportunities for students to develop into work-ready graduates.

For over 100 years the university has provided a top post-secondary education. Experienced and passionate faculty teach future-focused programs that meet the needs of evolving industries. Small class sizes mean students receive the type of individual attention from faculty that enhances the personalized learning process.

Students can choose from a large selection of diverse and exciting programs. Many include hands-on learning in simulation, computer and science labs, or practical experiences in placements and industry.

The university provides a safe and inclusive community environment and the International Student Support Centre offers dedicated support for international students. The university fosters a sense of community on campus and students always feel that they belong. All students can take advantage of extensive academic support, career advice, recreational amenities and other facilities.

Calgary is an unrivalled location for students and was ranked the fifth most liveable city in the world by The Economist in 2020. There are countless activities close by for all to enjoy, from festivals to one of the largest bike path networks in North America.

Based on the Canadian University Survey Consortium, 93 per cent of first-year students said they were satisfied with their decision to attend Mount Royal. Students also rank the university among the top institutions in Canada for teaching quality and overall experience.

One of the university's best features is the personal attention it gives to each student. It attracts talented learners from all around the world, inviting them to an intellectually stimulating environment where they can prepare for their dream careers.

What's new

What's new

Launching new degrees to meet demand in science, technology and social services sectors

Due to the growing demand for talented employees in Calgary's scientific, technology and social services industries, Mount Royal University is accelerating talent to support these sectors.

In addition to new degree programs in chemistry, biology and computer science in the Faculty of Science and Technology in 2018 and 2019, MRU launched a four-year degree in the Bachelor of Social Work in 2021. This brand-new degree compliments the popular two-year diploma from the faculty of Health, Community and Education.

Students are prepared for higher learning and careers in these in-demand subjects by promoting international experiences, hands-on learning and research opportunities. Events that promote student research and Community Service Learning (CSL) designated courses allow students to integrate impactful experience on their resume early in their studies.

Students in these new programs are at the forefront of innovation in their fields of study. MRU is an AShokaU designated Changemaker Campus, meaning the university has met a high global standard for being leaders in creating sustainable change.

The university operates in socially and environmentally conscious ways to address local and global challenges. The designation recognizes investment in the continuous development of individuals who see the value of higher education in making the world a better place.

Live Events and Information Sessions

MRU information sessions give prospective students the opportunity to find out more about the institution, its degree programs, admission procedures, and learn more about Calgary. Students can interact with university representatives and ask any questions they may have from the comfort of their own homes.

Virtual information sessions are offered on an on-going basis. Sessions cover both general and specific topics, including international transcript submission.
