Overview
A highly distinguished institution, University of Queensland (UQ) is consistently ranked among the top 50 universities in the world – reflecting its global standing and the high quality of its staff, researchers and alumni.
UQ brings the latest ideas and research into the classroom to place our students at the frontier of knowledge. Students learn from world-renowned researchers in modern, multi-million dollar facilities such as the Advanced Engineering Building, Oral Health Centre, Pharmacy Australia Centre for Excellence and Boeing Research facility.
UQ places an emphasis on making graduates have a positive impact on the society around them, whilst being leaders in their chosen field. With 90% of international graduates in the labour force, students can be confident of getting a job after their studies.
The Student Employability Centre leaves students in the best possible position once they graduate from the University, and offers the UQ Employability Award. Students can also access 1.25 million online books, over 823,000 printed books, and join over 200 different clubs and societies.
UQ was handed the highest possible rating for staff qualifications, student demand and gaining employment by the Good Universities Guide 2016. It also holds more national teaching awards than any other university in Australia.
With nearly 7,000 staff and 52,000 students, UQ is one of the biggest institutions in Australia. Holding over 15,400 international students from 141 different countries, it is a truly international university.
Support services at the institution include UQ Mates, which is a platform that brings students with similar interests together via a free social network. Also, student advisors are provided for international students, meaning that there is always someone to speak to. From emotional concerns, to concerns about workload and everything in between, the advisors are there to help.
