The Scholarship will support a student starting or undertaking their PhD at AUT on a topic focused on Southeast Asia and its people (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam) and especially but not exclusively its history, in order to advance knowledge and understanding and advance New Zealand's interest in the subject.
