Criteria
Students must meet all eligibility criteria during each year of application in order to receive an award.
If eligible, part-time students will receive a bursary award that is proportional to their intensity of study.
The criteria is all of the following:
- You must be a first time undergraduate degree student who started your first year (or Foundation Year where your course fee is £9,535) of study from September 2025 onwards.
- You must not hold a degree or higher qualification.
- You must have applied for Student Finance and have been income assessed.
- Your household income must be assessed and evidenced by Student Finance as below £27,500.
- You must be domiciled in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
- You must meet sufficient attendance or engagement with your course to be considered for the award, and you must have active attendance prior to the scheduled payment date.
You must apply for the bursary within eight weeks of your course start date.
An application link will be added to the page shortly after student online registration has opened.
To be considered for a bursary, you must:
- Have completed registration with Bath Spa University for the academic year.
- Have completed an "Application for Student Finance" for the academic year, ensuring you applied for the full package of means-tested support available and supply all evidence requested. You can find full details on the Student Finance pages. This must be in place before you can apply for the bursary.
- Your household income figure will automatically be shared with the University and used to assess your eligibility for a bursary (consent to share).
- You must meet sufficient, and ongoing attendance or engagement with your course to be considered for the award, and you must have active attendance prior to the scheduled payment date.
