Selection criteria:
The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the following:
- The ability to meet the entry criteria for the course and the offer of an Unconditional place for the course starting September.
- Evidence of financial need.
- A commitment to contributing to student life at LFS and the UK screen industries after course completion.
- Agreement to keep London Film School updated on their film industry activity for a minimum of 24 months after graduating from the School.
The Leverhulme Trust awards London Film School (LFS) a grant to fund 8 students 6 for our MA Filmmaking and 2 for our MA Screenwriting degrees. The award of £10,000 towards tuition fees or living expenses, will be made to the successful applicants in the spring term 2026 following the start of the course in September.
The Leverhulme Scholarhips are only offered for September intakes any information about the scholarship running in September 2026 will be announced later this year.
The Leverhulme Arts Scholarships are designed for talented applicants who have the right to reside (home status) in the UK, and become enrolled students on either our MA Filmmaking or MA Screenwriting courses. The Scholarship also aims to support applicants who have submitted applications that have been deemed to have exceeded expectations in at least two of the selection criteria. It addresses the School's key goal of ensuring access and widening participation for the current generation of talented students so that they can participate and benefit from the School's culture and its full learning programme, like Michael Mann, Mike Leigh, Roger Pratt, Duncan Jones and many other filmmakers did before them.
Who can apply for the Scholarship?
- Applicants who have applied to either the MA Filmmaking or MA Screenwriting programmes for a place in the September intake (applicants who have deferred their place from an earlier intake will not be eligible).
- Applicants who have the right to reside in the UK and who are assessed as home status for tuition fee purposes
- Applicants who can demonstrate the need for financial assistance
- Applicants who can evidence the ability to be able to support themselves (and any dependents, if applicable for the duration of the course).
