North American Athlete Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

•Registered to study at Newcastle University city centre campus for the 2026/27 academic year.

•Registered for one of the following eligible courses:

−Masters - MA MBA MClinRes MEd MMedEd LLM LLM (by research) MLitt MPH MRes MPhil MSc MScL MLA postgraduate certificate and postgraduate diploma.

•Defined as international for fee purposes.

•Citizens of the USA or Canada and domiciled in the USA or Canada.

•NCAA D1- D3 playing experience (we will consider NAIA on a case-by-case basis).

Overview

Newcastle University offers up to 30 North American Athlete Scholarship awards to encourage North American athletes in the following sports, Basketball, Lacrosse, Volleyball, American Football, and Women's Soccer, to undertake Master's, PG Certificate or PG Diploma level study. Successful applicants will receive the following:

•Either a 60%, 50%, 40%, 30% or 20% tuition fee discount for one year applied directly to the student's tuition fee account.

•A comprehensive support package including:

−Free gym membership

−Strength and conditioning support

−Professional coaching

−Physiotherapy and sports massage

−Lifestyle support and mentoring
