Michael Baldwin Memorial Scholarship

Selection is based on all the following criteria: 2.4.1. The applicant's current, future or prior contributions to community development/society in the South Pacific region. 2.4.2. Academic merit. 2.4.3. Preference may be given to applicants who: a) can demonstrate a need for financial support to undertake tertiary study, and/or b) are citizens of Papua New Guinea, and/or c) are not residents or permanent residents of New Zealand or Australia.

As part of the online application process, each applicant must submit the following: 4.2.1. A Personal Statement that outlines the following: a) The applicant's current, future or prior contributions to community development/society in the South Pacific region. b) Any financial need and details of any funding sources, additional to this scholarship, available to support the candidate's travel to, and studies in, New Zealand. c) Previous recipients only need to also include a statement about the impact the scholarship has had on their academic and personal life. 4.2.2. a CV (no more than two A4 pages). 4.2.3. proof of citizenship. 4.2.4. verified copies of academic transcripts (including grading scale) from any other tertiary institution(s) attended. Note: For previous recipients only, the grades while on the scholarship will be supplied to the panel.

For citizens of any South Pacific Nation (excluding New Zealander and Australian citizens), who can demonstrate a need for financial support in order to undertake study. Candidates must be enrolled or intending to enrol in approved full-time study.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet all the following criteria: 2.1.1. be citizens of any South Pacific nation as defined in the UN Coastal States of the South Pacific, but excluding citizens of New Zealand and/or Australia (including anyone who holds a dual citizenship with a South Pacific nation and New Zealand/Australia). Applicants may be residing in New Zealand or offshore at the time of application. 2.1.2.be either enrolled or intending to enrol in an approved full-time programme of study at the University of Waikato in the year of tenure of the Scholarship. 2.1.3.show commitment to contribute to development/society of the South Pacific Region in the Future.
