The criterion for awarding the scholarship is financial need and you will need to demonstrate this in the application.
The Douglas Johnson Scholarship aims to support UK domiciled students in financial need to pursue an undergraduate degree in the department of History at UCL.
Eligible candidates must:
- be domiciled in the UK with Home fee status
- be in financial need
- hold an offer of admission to UCL to study a full-time undergraduate degree in the department of History (including joint honours degree) for the 2025/26 intake.
Value, benefits, and duration
The award provides £27,500 per year for a three year undergraduate programme and is subject to satisfactory academic progress. The award will be applied to cover tuition fees in the first instance, with remainder payable as maintenance.
If a student on a four year undergraduate programme receives this award, payments will be made pro rata, i.e. they will receive £20,625 for each of their four years of study.
