The award is disbursed as follow:
First payment (year 1) of £2000 made in March/April of the academic year.
In years 2-5 split payments (£1000 each) will be made in October (Semester 1) and January (Semester 2).
Who can apply?
Undergraduate students from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnicity and are eligible for Home fees are eligible to receive this scholarship.
Eligiblity Criteria
Eligible students will meet the following conditions. The student who scores the highest points will receive the award. In the event of two or more students scoring the same number of points, the student who attended the least well performing school/college for A-levels will be awarded the scholarship.
Home student (student classified as ‘Home for Fees' at the programme start date) – no points allocated.
Ethnicity – points allocated as follows based on the ethnicity categories provided at the time of registration.:
Black or Mixed (Black/Black British – Caribbean Black/Black British – African Other Black background, Mixed - White and Black Caribbean, Mixed - White and Black African, Other Mixed Background) – 5 points.
Other Asian and Minority Ethnic (Asian/Asian British – Indian Asian/Asian British – Pakistan Asian/Asian British – Bangladesh Chinese Other Asian background Mixed – White and Asian Arab) – 3 points.
Home POLAR 4 Quintile – Q1 = 10 points, Q2 = 8 points, Q3 = 6 points, Q4 = 2 points, Q5 = 1 point.
Contextual School (identified using the criteria described on the MBChB admissions webpage for identifying contextual applicants) – 5 points
Which countries and nationalities are eligible?
Students of any nationality can apply for this scholarship provided that their country of permanent residency is the United Kingdom or Ireland.
