In making the recommendation, the committee considers: a. academic achievement b. ability and willingness to contribute positively to science-based activities in the community and/or student experiences in Chemistry within the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences and c. financial need.
If, in any year that the scholarship is available, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no award is made.
The purpose of this scholarship is to support students for study towards a PhD in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Canterbury.
Value/Benefits: Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, at a value of NZ $5,000 per 120 points of thesis enrolment
Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Full-time or part-time enrolment in a programme for a PhD degree in Chemistry at the University of Canterbury
Tenure: Up to 360 points of enrolment
Number Available Annually: There may be only one holder of the scholarship at a time
Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 15 May in years that the scholarships is available
