In making the recommendation, the selection committee gives equal consideration to the following: a. Academic achievement b. Potential contribution to Aotearoa New Zealand, as evidenced by: i. qualities such as initiative and leadership and ii. sporting, cultural, and/or community activities c. Financial need
If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship is offered.
The scholarship supports old boys of Timaru Boys' High School at University of Canterbury.
Tenure: Normally, the scholarship is tenable for three years. Recipients may apply, through the University of Canterbury Foundation, for an extension of one year for completion of a four-year undergraduate degree programme
Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a programme for an undergraduate degree at the University
Special Requirements: Applicants must be either current pupils of Timaru Boys' High School, or past pupils of Timaru Boys' High School on a gap year. The scholarship is tenable by students who were enrolled at Timaru Boys' High School for at least three years.
