The Richard Tagart Scholarship

The successful applicant will be chosen on the basis of:

Demonstration of financial hardship (The student must have made an application for student support to Student Finance England. Student Finance England use the student's household income to assess whether the student is eligible to receive a bursary. If the student is eligible to receive a bursary, then they will have demonstrated socio-economic need as required by the criteria of the scholarship).
A level results or equivalent.
UCAS personal statement and reference.

If your application goes to panel you may be asked to attend an online interview via Microsoft Teams (details tbc).

Criteria

• Open to all full-time applicants in any academic discipline who are UK residents paying Home tuition fees.
• Applicants must have accepted a place on an undergraduate course at the University of Kent starting in September 2025 by the scholarship deadline of 30th May 2025.
• Applicants must have applied for a tuition fee loan from Student Finance England and be able to provide evidence as a part of their scholarship application.
• Applicants must demonstrate financial need and satisfy a range of socio-economic criteria
• Applicants must be willing to act as an 'ambassador' for the University, their subject and faculty and attend University events when requested, if not in conflict with either course attendance or classes being in session.
• Current students at the University of Kent are not eligible to apply.
