The Oxford-Stephen Cobbold Graduate Scholarship is available for applicants who are applying to the full-time DPhil in Molecular Cell Biology in Health and Disease in the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology.
The scholarship is jointly funded by the University, the EPA Research Fund and Professor Herman Waldmann, FRS. Professor Stephen Cobbold, Emeritus Professor of Cellular Immunology, worked with Prof Waldmann on research investigating how monoclonal antibodies can be used to therapeutically manipulate the immune system. This scholarship recognises his pivotal role in work that led, among others, to the development of CAMPATH monoclonal antibodies, which are now used for the treatment of certain leukaemias and for multiple sclerosis.
The scholarship covers course fees and provides a grant for living costs. Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.
