Selection criteria:
One scholarship, valued at up to $6,000, will be awarded annually to an outstanding Black or Indigenous undergraduate student entering Year One in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science (excluding Software Engineering but including Computing and Financial Management). For the purpose of this scholarship, an Indigenous person is one who is a citizen or member of a First Nations community (Status/Non Status), Metis, and/or Inuit. Black students may include African, Afro-Caribbean, Black Canadian, Afro Latine, African American, Afro-Indigenous, or other African descent. Selection will be based on a combination of academic achievement and community involvement through extracurricular and/or volunteer activities. Preference will be given to students who are attempting to advance Black or Indigenous initiatives in their community. Interested students should submit an online application by April 15.
Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Black or Indigenous students entering Year One of any Computer Science program (excl. Software Eng)
- For the purpose of this scholarship, an Indigenous person is one who is a citizen or member of a First Nations community (Status/Non-Status), Metis, and/or Inuit. Candidates must have completed the Indigenous Verification section in Quest and have had their Indigenous identity verified by the Office of Indigenous Relations at the University of Waterloo.
- For the purpose of this scholarship, Black students may include African, Afro-Caribbean, Black Canadian, Afro-Latine, African American, Afro-Indigenous, or other African descent.
- Academic achievement, and community involvement through extracurricular and/or volunteer activities.
- Preference given to students who are attempting to advance Black or Indigenous initiatives in their community.
