Applicants must:
- be enrolled in a full-time thesis-based Master's or Doctoral program in the Faculty of Science, except those enrolled in the Department of Physics and Astronomy (those students are being funded separately through a separate award in Physics and Astronomy).
- normally be of high academic standing in their program.
- not hold another award greater than the value of this award (except entrance awards and IDSA/IMSA).
- be within the first 12 terms of a doctoral program, or within the first six terms of a thesis-based master's program.
Master's students who direct transfer to doctoral studies after term three will have three terms of masters level support, followed by 12 terms of doctoral level support. If direct transfer happens later than term four, doctoral level funding will start in the first term of doctoral registration, but not extend beyond a total of 15 terms of funding.
