Top100 Future Leaders Competition

Top100 Future Leaders Competition 2021, which identifies the best talent produced in Australian universities, has recognised UNSW Sydney for two years consistently. 37 students from the university stood out as most employable- this is the highest number from any educational provider since 2014, the awards' inception.

Co-op scholarship

Jessica Lawson, a Bachelor of Information Systems (Hons) student from the university won the IT Top100 Future Leader Award. As a part of the UNSW Sydney Business School's Co-op Scholarship program, she can have internships of three to six months. She has completed an internship with a global pharmaceutical company and is in one with Westpac Bank currently.

''The Co-op scholarship program has provided me with wonderful opportunities. I feel really fortunate to have been given the chance to have internships and look forward to learning as much as I can in the remaining two years of my degrees,'' Ms Lawson said.

Scholarships & funding

UNSW rewards ambitious, high-achieving international students with a range of scholarships. These are offered based on various factors such as academia, extracurricular activities, leadership skills, and more. Through these scholarships, students gain not just financial aid, but also recognition from future employers.

International Scientia Coursework Scholarship

UNSW Sydney awards this scholarship to students who are passionate about becoming leaders, enjoy excellent academic merit, excel in extracurricular activities, and share how the university is the right choice for their study.

Recipients of the award receive:

  • a full scholarship covering their tuition fees (or)
  • AUD20,000 per year for the minimum duration of their program

Australia's Global University Award

Students who are passionate about accomplishing their goals through study at the university, with strong academic merit will receive this award.

Recipients will be given:

  • AUD10,000 for one year (or)
  • AUD5,000 for one year

UNSW Global Academic Award

This is awarded to students who complete the UNSW Global Foundation Studies and also have strong academic merit.

Recipients of the award will receive:

  • AUD10,000 for one year (or)
  • AUD5,000 for one year

Work integrated learning

UNSW Sydney embeds work integrated learning in its programs, which enables students to work directly with industry to gain real-world experience and prepare for the world of work. These experiences are offered with partner organisations from Australia and around the world.

Post-study working in Australia

On graduation, international students are eligible to apply for the Post Study Work stream of the Temporary Graduate Visa. The visa allows graduates to live and work in Australia, where they too can benefit from Australia's successful economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Students who begin their studies from their home country are also eligible to apply if they have been granted a Student Visa in the past 12 months.

Student safety

Student safety

UNSW Sydney's security services offers its students a comprehensive 24-hour security on campus and security monitoring services.

These services provide:

  • Student protection
  • Property protection
  • Detection and prevention of crime
  • A 24-hour control room monitoring CCTV, building access, and alarm systems

UNSW Sydney security officers are fully licensed with a number of special powers under the Acts of Parliament. If needed, they will liaise with law enforcement agencies.

Security patrols

UNSW Sydney also has a 24-hour patrol and an emergency response service. Some of their services include:

  • Security vehicle patrols
  • Foot patrols
  • Safety escorts
  • Security shuttle bus

The app

UNSW Sydney students can make use of the StaySafe@UNSW app that is free of cost, which helps them track the night bus and access contacts, safety tips, a newsfeed, and more.

Entry requirements

Undergraduate study

For undergraduate study, there is more than one way to meet the academic entry requirements. These include high school studies, foundation studies, recognised prior study and a university transfer.

Postgraduate study

For postgraduate study, students generally are required to have completed undergraduate studies at a higher education institution. Find more information on undergraduate and postgraduate entry requirements here or on the degree pages of the degree finder.

English language requirements

If a student's qualifications were not undertaken and assessed in English, the student must provide evidence of English language ability which meets the minimum requirements for admission. The degree pages of UNSW Sydney's degree finder will include details for the program's English language requirements.

Other qualifications

In addition to university English preparation courses and English tests, the university also accepts several academic qualifications for its English language requirements. All qualifications should have been taken by students no more than two years from their year of commencement of study, (excluding students from Sweden, Denmark, or Norway, who can produce results four years prior to commencement year of study at UNSW Sydney).
