University of Rochester
The University of Rochester is one of the country's top tier research universities. It envisions itself as a community that welcomes, encourages, and supports individuals who desire to contribute to and benefit from the institution’s missions of teaching, research, patient care, performance, and community service. In a pluralistic culture, that community includes faculty, students, and staff who represent important differences.
The University offers 200 academic majors, has more than 2,000 faculty and instructional staff, and some 10,000 students . Each of the University’s schools and colleges have offices devoted to diversity initiatives at the school level. It is home to rigorous academic programs in every field. With more than 75 undergraduate majors and 50 graduate programs, Rochester offers the intellectual excitement of a major research university and the intimacy and opportunities of a liberal arts college. The University offers graduate students the chance to pursue research at the highest level in an environment scaled to the individual.
The 154-acre River Campus is the main campus of the university and is located about two miles south of downtown Rochester, New York, by a bend in the Genesee River.
