As a science, technology and design university, academic learning is the primary mission of NJIT, but the extracurricular activities will help students learn and grow beyond the walls of the classroom into a well-rounded global citizen with hands-on training to prepare them for real-world experiences.
The Wellness and Events Center (WEC), opening November 2017, offers NJIT community a venue for sporting and social events, conferences, as well as two gyms, a running track, indoor turf field and a swimming pool.
NJIT is located in the vibrant University Heights district of downtown Newark, just 20 minutes from Manhattan by train. Newark is also New Jerseys cultural and economic capital, boasting performance spaces, professional sports, great food, and five other colleges nearby.
