Master of Science in Business Analytics

The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program at Algoma University equips students with advanced analytical skills to excel in today’s data-driven business world. This program combines data science, business intelligence, and informed decision-making, preparing graduates for careers in analytics, consulting, and research. In this course based 16 month (four-semester long) program offered in Sault Ste. Marie, students will take six required courses, two elective subjects and will complete a mandatory capstone project that requires students to solve real-world problems using real-world data. Students will be registered as full-time students and will pay applicable tuition, ancillary and insurance fees for all four semesters of study.

Students admitted to this program have flexibility in their Electives term (final term of their program) to study at Sault Ste. Marie or Brampton.

Pre-Program Bootcamp

The program offers a mandatory pre-program bootcamp course, where students complete mandatory tutorials on Python, SQL, and Statistics using Python. The pre-program bootcamp also offers optional refreshers for important mathematics foundations for data analytics, such as Probability and Statistics, Calculus, and Linear Algebra. This allows students to have a smooth start and fill potential gaps.

A four-year Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Business or other relevant fields with a good quantitative record

Applicants with non-STEM or unrelated academic backgrounds may be considered if they have completed at least four quantitative or analytical courses with a minimum average of B+ or equivalent, covering at least two of the following areas: probability and statistics, calculus, linear algebra, and basic computer programming.

Applicants with limited coursework in the specified mathematical areas may be considered for conditional admission and required to complete a one-month, condensed foundation course in Basic Quantitative Analysis at Algoma University before the start of the program.

All applicants require to have an undergraduate GPA that is greater or equal to B or equivalent

GRE/GMAT not required but may strengthen the application.
