Year 9

Faulkner’s Curriculum is Bradfield College’s innovative Year 9 programme, designed to prepare pupils for the academic, professional and personal demands of the modern world. Combining academic rigour with interdisciplinary learning, the curriculum develops both subject knowledge and the practical skills needed to become confident, curious and independent learners.

The programme is built around five core skills: complex problem-solving, self-regulation, presentation, digital literacy and critical thinking. Pupils learn to apply these skills through engaging, real-world contexts rather than studying subjects in isolation.

The curriculum brings together five interconnected spheres of learning: Environment and Sustainability, Languages and Culture, People and Society, Maths in Action, and Creative and Literary Arts. Pupils explore topics ranging from sustainability and scientific investigation to politics, history, psychology, mathematics, literature, music and the performing arts.

Alongside academic study, the L.I.F.E. (Learning Is For Every Day) programme develops practical skills for everyday life, including wellbeing, digital competency, study skills, touch typing and financial awareness.

Through creativity, collaboration, independent inquiry and critical thinking, Faulkner’s Curriculum aims to give pupils the knowledge, confidence and transferable skills to thrive in their future studies and beyond.
