In our core Master’s courses, students learn interdisciplinary approaches to environmental issues, environmental planning, and environmental research strategies. Students craft an individual study plan with an advisor, choosing among electives in the natural sciences, social sciences, and other departments. Environmental Studies electives range from atmospheric pollution to wetlands restoration. ENST students engage in original research (add link to Student Projects) and join a community of scholars (add a link to Events) with a robust network of alumni. The ENST program requires 36 units and most courses at CSUF are 3 units—therefore, it’s possible to complete our program in 2 years (4 semesters) by taking 3 courses each semester. However, students have up to 5 years to complete the program; you may take as few as 1 or 2 courses a semester if you need to accommodate work, family, or other obligations.

Entry requirements for California State University - Fullerton

All applicants must have: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. We recommend that you have taken undergraduate foundational courses in ecology, engineering, mathematics, natural sciences, and/or quantitative methods. A minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 units of attempted coursework. If your GPA is below 3.0, you may enroll in courses through community colleges or CSUF’s Extended Education Open University to bring up your GPA. A personal statement explaining how our program fits your goals. Two letters of recommendation, including at least one from an academic instructor. The names of a few CSUF ENST faculty with whom you are interested in working. You don’t need to secure an advisor before applying, but you do need to show us you have thought about why our program fits your interests.
