At DUELI, we have 8 levels of General English (Beginner to Advanced)In General English, you will:learn English for everyday situationscommunicate with people in the classroom and in real situations on class excursion projectslearn to speak accurately and clearlyimprove pronunciation and fluencyextend your vocabularycontinue to develop cross-cultural communication skillsuse English to help you enjoy living in Melbourne and Australia.Level: Beginner– AdvancedCourse structureIn General English you will study for 20 hours per week plus 5 hours of self-study in the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) with a teacher available to guide and support you.To move from one General English level to the next, you need to pass the main assessment tasks of your current level with an overall score of 55 per cent.General English PathwaysA General English student is eligible to transfer to the EAP pathway if they pass their General English class at the GE 5 level and attain an appropriate result on the DUELI EAP writing test.AssessmentAssessment in each course takes a variety of forms, including written research assignments, debates, class projects, class tests and oral presentations.Entry requirementsThere are eight General English (GE) levels offered at DUELI.General English Elementary (GE 1) is a 10-week program. However, you can exit after five weeks with an overall score of 55% and the required score in the written exam.GE 2 and above are 5-week programs.To progress to the next GE level, you need to achieve an overall score of 55%.To meet the English language proficiency requirements of this course, you must be able to demonstrate the following to enter each level:IELTS Score Level2.5-3.0 GE 1 Elementary 1-23.5 GE 2 Pre-Intermediate 14.0 GE 3 Pre-Intermediate 24.5 GE 4 Intermediate 15.0 GE 5 Intermediate 25.5 GE 6 Upper-Intermediate 16.0 GE 7 Upper-Intermediate 26.5 GE 8 Advanced Please note: entry level IELTS score based on your overall score
