It’s true that those are areas within MIS, but the full scope is much larger. There is a huge variety of work needed to select, acquire, implement and operate information systems. The MIS department plans and manages all the financial, human and technological resources needed to deploy and use information systems in the organization. The MIS major at LeBow is ideal for students who want to learn how to manage people and the systems related to information technology. Our MIS curriculum is continuously improved using industry feedback and faculty research. Although administered by the Department of Decision Sciences & MIS, the major is interdisciplinary in nature due to the ubiquitous application of technology. Students who wish to learn more technical applications in computing or more general management perspectives on technology can complement the MIS major by taking courses in other departments at LeBow or even other colleges at Drexel. For instance, two popular options among students majoring in MIS are the LeBow co-majors in technology innovation management or business analytics.
