Digital Journalism
The Digital Journalism major is a hands-on professional degree program that prepares students for careers in media. As a digital journalism student, you will learn by doing. From producing live newscasts in our state-of-the-art digital newsroom to field reporting at one of our bureaus in Miami-Wynwood or Washington, DC, you’ll learn the values and principles that have long formed the core of the journalism profession while you master the highly specialized, practical skills needed to succeed in today’s digital world. Digital Journalism graduates are skilled in storytelling that includes writing, researching, reporting, shooting and editing digital photos, video and audio and producing data visualizations.
Digital Broadcasting
The Digital Broadcasting major gives you the critical skills you need to be successful in any reporting environment, whether working for online news sites, traditional media outlets, radio or TV stations, cable or streaming networks, social media or other emerging platforms. Digital Broadcasting majors learn how to write, shoot, edit, produce and direct video for broadcasting, digital and streaming media platforms.
Digital TV Multimedia Production
The Digital TV Multimedia Production major prepares students for careers in media production and program creation, writing and creative applications of video and audio storytelling. In this major, you will learn the industry’s best practices in multi-platform digital production as well as training in studio production and writing for television. As a Digital TV Multimedia Production student, you can expect to take courses in motion graphics, podcasting, social media production and web development.
Digital Interactive Media
The Digital Interactive Media major combines training in digital and emerging media with theoretical courses designed to create thoughtful media producers. As a Digital Interactive Media student, you can expect to take courses in interactive media, motion graphics, digital theories, visual design and social media audience development.
At the graduate level, the Department of Journalism Media offers a master’s degree in Mass Communication focused on Spanish-language Journalism, the first of its kind in the nation. Students wishing to accelerate their career can choose the 41 Pathway completing the B.S. and M.S. degrees in five years.
Stand alone academic programs and dual enrollment initiatives also teaches students around the globe through its online degree program in Mass Communication and Media Studies.
