You will build the knowledge, values and practical skills of a social service worker while developing specialized expertise in addressing gender-based violence and supporting those affected by violence, abuse and oppression.
Through a gender-based violence lens, you will learn to assess needs, provide support, advocate for and with clients, connect people with community resources and contribute to safer, more equitable communities. If you have strong interpersonal skills and are committed to creating a more just and equitable society by examining the dynamics of power, oppression, and social location, this program is for you. As a program graduate, you will be prepared for roles in a variety of social service settings, including mental health, homelessness, poverty, substance use and addictions, long-term care, criminal justice, crisis support, and settlement and immigration services.
